I was about to write a perl script and use it in the terminal to change the file’s names, since I didn’t want to get involved into apple script and/or automator… but knowing me, I am glad you have done something better, already! ;-D

The workflow works for very simple perl S&R, but in order for it to work reliable, you need to edit the script to be as follows:

set newName to do shell script “echo ” & quoted form of myName & ” | perl -ple ‘” & myPattern & “;’”

I.e., you’ve got to enclose the perl command with single quotes, and also it’s a good idea to include the semi-colon at the end.
